Many photos look their best when North is up, like a map, but I find this one disorienting, because of the cloud shadows...

Thunder Bay, Isle Royale, and the Keweenaw Peninsula

40 MP (8880x4440) from 70mm Film This is a composite of two photos.  The 2nd image shows just how beautifully the two aligned.  The ice patterns and land match up almost perfectly, even though the photos were taken 20 seconds apart.  During that time the Shuttle Endeavour flew 92 miles (148 km) -- twice the length of Isle Royale -- so the camera angles were quite different.
