The Alpena area is best known (locally) for making cement — that’s an open-pit mine in the top-left corner of the zoom-in photo — but the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary has the same status as a National Park.  Many of the park’s visitors are divers attracted by the 116 known shipwrecks.
