Lake Michigan’s Grand and Little Traverse Bays

24 MP (5707×4486) from 70mm Film (1994)

In addition to the two Traverse bays, the traverses to Wisconsin’s Door Peninsula (bottom left corner) and to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (top left) are visible in this well-framed shot.  It’s October, and the autumn “color season” is clearly underway.

This photo isn’t nearly as sharp as it could be.  The only image that can currently be downloaded from the NASA Gateway website is this 640×480 jpeg file.

I requested and received a high-resolution scan from NASA several years ago, but even that is a medium-quality jpeg file.  (Most NASA film scans are top-quality tiff files.)  Modern AI-based software could be used to clean it up, if NASA doesn’t reply to my recent request for a truly high-resolution scan.
