The Leelanau Peninsula, Lake Michigan
24 MP (5100×5100) from 70mm Film (1994)
This photo was taken four days after the other April Ice photos, using the same camera, presumably by the same Shuttle astronaut.
The northern tips of the Leelanau Peninsula and Long Lake also appear at the very bottom of the April Ice: Mackinac photo, and most of that ice is now gone.
Photographs taken by weightless astronauts are often shot at unusual angles — which apparently bothers some people — and I’ve always thought that photos like this one would work well on a stairway wall.
In this photo: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore; Manitou Islands; Crystal Lake; Glen Lake; Manistee River; Torch Lake; Elk Lake; Old Mission Peninsula
