Check Brightness/Contrast

If necessary, adjust your screen’s Brightness, Contrast, Picture, and/or Backlight controls.

Stripe 1 should be as black as possible without 1 and 2 completely blending together.
You should also be able to see faint stars in the background of this page.
Stripe 25 should be BRIGHT WHITE; 24 and 25 should also be slightly different.
These are the ideal settings for any monitor or TV, regardless of use.

Your best settings will depend on room lighting and reflected glare.
For critical viewing, it’s best to work in a darkened room.
